On this episode of I’m From Topeka, we sit down with Kayla to talk about her journey. Kayla is a dedicated disability advocate, entrepreneur, and mother based in Topeka, Kansas. After graduating from Emporia State University in 2013, she founded Strong Over Wrong, a platform aimed at improving the diagnosis experience for families and enhancing healthcare for individuals with Down syndrome. Kayla serves as the New Parent & Medical Outreach Specialist at Down Syndrome Innovations, supporting new mothers and collaborating with healthcare professionals. In 2024, she was honored as Kansas Mother of the Year by American Mothers, Inc. Additionally, Kayla owns To The Stars Play Cafe, an inclusive indoor playground designed for children of all abilities, providing a safe and welcoming environment for play and socialization.
